Borneo as National Energy Granary
Jakarta, 3/9/12. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa fully supports the efforts of the Regional Government, especially in 
development of the Kalimantan Regional MP3EI/Boerneo Island as a National Energy Storage.
This was stated by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia when opening the Central Government Coordination Forum with the Kalimantan Regional Government in Jakarta.
The forum continued by delivering a presentation regarding the progress and development planning for the Kalimantan regional region, which was delivered by the Governor of South Kalimantan as Chair of the Kalimantan Development Acceleration Revitalization Cooperation Forum with important points including:
First, the process of implementing the MP3EI program in Kalimantan has shown significant results on regional development. Based on economic indicators, the level of social welfare is increasing. This cannot be separated from the enthusiasm of the Kalimantan Government which fully supports the MP3EI program in the ALKI III Corridor, and has mobilized efforts to empower regional officials and the community in achieving development plans. However, there are problems with overlapping land, land tenure permitting processes and infrastructure problems in Kalimantan making several development processes less productive.
Secondly, to expedite the revitalization process of accelerating development in Kalimantan, the regional government is proposing strategic proposals related to development policy, including: regulatory framework, budget framework and MP3EI acceleration framework.
Third, in general, the strategic proposal proposes policies related to the spatial planning of industrial areas, changes in licensing to emphasize the role of regional governments regarding the development of industrial areas, policies to encourage the development of national and energy reserves, government policies in fuel management and acceleration of the Ground Breaking program.
Fourth, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs fully supports the efforts of the Regional Government, especially in developing MP3EI in Kalimantan as a National Energy Storage.
Fifth, Regarding the MP3EI Program, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs said that the President would inaugurate 2 MP3EI Projects in East Kalimantan Province, namely the Kariangau Industrial Area and Kalimarau Airport in October 2012.
The Central Government Coordination Forum with the Kalimantan Regional Government was attended by elements from the Central Government including: Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Minister of Forestry; Minister of Agriculture; Minister of Industry; Minister of Trade; Deputy Minister of Public Works; Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; Along with the ranks of relevant Ministerial Directors.
Meanwhile, elements of Regional Government include: Governor of South Kalimantan; Governor of East Kalimantan; Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan; Deputy Governor of West Kalimantan; along with officials from several related agencies in the Kalimantan region.
