National Socialization of 2050 NDC and LTS LCCR Updates

Thursday, September 23 2021. Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province represented by the Economic and Natural Resources Sector attended the National Socialization of the 2050 NDC and LTS lCCR Update.

As a follow-up to efforts to fulfill its obligations and commitments to control climate change, the Indonesian Government has submitted the Updated NDC and LTS-LCCR 2050 to the UNFCCC Secretariat in July 2021. In line with this, in order to communicate Indonesia's commitment to controlling climate change, the Directorate of Climate Change Control Window of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry implemented National Socialization of Updated NDC and LTS-LCCR 2050.

Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province through the Natural Resources and Environment Sub-Sector also took an active role in the socialization event.

The LTS-LCCR 2050 document presents Indonesia's sustainable vision for the long term and achieving a balance between future emission reduction and economic development. This long-term strategy also outlines Indonesia's goal of reaching peak national GHG emissions in 2030 with a net reduction in the forestry and land use sectors and moving towards Net-Zero Emissions (NZE) in 2060 or sooner.

From an economic development perspective, the strategy aims to reduce the country's potential GDP loss of 3.4596% due to climate change in 2050 by increasing resilience in four basic socio-economic development needs, namely food, water, energy and environmental health.
