One of the agendas in the series of events in the implementation of the East Kalimantan Province RKPD Musrenbang which was held on April 20 2022 at the Odah Etam Pendopo, East Kalimantan Governor's Office was the announcement and awarding of awards to the best Regencies and Cities in Regional Development or East Kalimantan PPD in 2022 which were based on the results of interviews conducted on February 15 2022 at the Four Point Balikpapan hotel.

In the category of best city government, Balikpapan succeeded as the best, then in second place went to Samarinda City, and third place went to Bontang City.

Meanwhile, in the category of Regency Government, the first best was achieved by Kutai Kartanegara Regency, followed by Paser Regency in second position and the third best title was achieved by Berau Regency.

This award is given as a form of appreciation for producing quality planning, achieving regional development targets and also development innovations that have been carried out. The award this time was handed over directly by the Governor of East Kalimantan (Mr. Isran Noor) accompanied by the Head of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province (Mr. Prof. Dr. Ir. HM Aswin MM).

The hope is that in the future, all regencies/cities that have not been successful on this occasion can further improve the quality of planning and implementation of development in their regions so that they can be the best on the next occasion.
