East Kalimantan Becomes a Green Economic Transformation Pilot Project Province
Samarinda, (06/25/2025) - Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas together with German Development Partners, Deutsche Gesellschaft Für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), held a coordination meeting of the Capacity Requirement of East Kalimantan Province on Thursday, (19/06) East.
There are seven provinces as a pilot location (pilot provinces). The three main provinces that will be the focus of the project implementation are the Province of Bali, Riau Islands Province, and East Kalimantan Province. Four additional provinces are also involved as supporting areas, namely Aceh Province, Central Java Province, East Nusa Tenggara Province, and South Sulawesi Province. This appointment is a form of recognition of the commitment and readiness of East Kalimantan in supporting the green economic and global development policy direction. This project aims to support Indonesia's transition towards a sustainable green economy through strengthening evidence -based development planning capacity, increasing policy synergy, as well as regional capacity development.
This activity was opened by the Head of the Economy and Natural Resources Development of the Bappeda Province, East Kalimantan Province representing the Head of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province.
Ibnu Yahya, who is also the main person in charge of the implementation of the project at the national level.
In his presentation, Giz representatives delivered the initial results of the study of capacity needs in East Kalimantan. This study aims to identify the readiness and challenges faced by the regions in supporting the transformation of inclusive and contextual green economy.
Participants also provide input on data collection through questionnaires that will be used as a basis for the preparation of project work plans at the regional level. This coordination is the initial milestone of the participatory process involving local stakeholders in preparing an environmentally friendly and sustainable development agenda. East Kalimantan, together with Bali and Riau Islands, are designated as the main province of pilot projects in this strategic initiative.
