Lokakarya Just Transition in Coal - Based Region

Global Efforts to Transition Efforts to Low Carbon Economy Brought special challenges for coal-producing countries and exporters, including Indonesia.

In connection with this, the T20 Indonesia together with the LPEM FEB UI and the Wuppertal Institute held a Group Discussion Forum (FGD) which discussed related to how the process of economic transition in coal-producing areas can be done By conducting open discussions with the Directorate of Mineral and Coal Program Development, Director General of Coal Minerals, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and with the Provincial Government of South Sumatra, South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.

the FGD is carried out with the aim of discussing the problem of coal transitions from three perspectives, namely related to global perspectives, status quo in coal-producing areas (such as South Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan) , as well as discussions with local governments related to the needs that must be met and the knowledge gap that must be closed to support the improvement of the regional economy in relation to coal transition efforts.

Head of East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Prof. Dr. H.M. Aswin, MM became a guest speaker representing the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in the event held online on Wednesday (06/04/2022).
