Pemb. Sepinggan Airport Terminal Building
Balikpapan, 12/1/12. The construction of Sepinggan International Airport was marked by the inauguration of the pile drill directly by the Governor of East Kalimantan, Mr.
DR. H. Awang Faroek Ishak accompanied by the Mayor of Balikpapan, Rizal Effendi, the Main Director of PT Angkasa Pura I, Tommy Soetomo and several officials within the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Balikpapan City Government, 12/01/2012.
This airport development is planned with a terminal building area of 110,000. M2 and equipped with (11) boarding bridges with an investment of Rp. 1.6 trillion, which is twice the area of Bandar Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar. This program is one of the MP3EI projects (Masterplan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development).
This airport is one of the busiest airports in supporting East Kalimantan's economic activities and provides easy access services for investors to invest in East Kalimantan.
The target for developing this airport is specifically to extend the runway from 2,500 meters to 3,250 meters at a cost of Rp. 500 billion so that Airbas planes can land and later support Hajj embarkation activities in East Kalimantan which can carry out direct flights to Jeddah.
