Sustainable supply chain intervention planning in East Kalimantan (Fresh Usaid)

Hidayanti Darma MP attended the agenda of "Workshop Discussion Recommendations Results of the Mapping of Cocoa and Palm Oil Commissioner Chain in Berau, Mahakam Ulu and East Kutai Regency" organized by the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas and USAID fresh on Monday (03/28/2022) in Samarinda.
some important points that are notes on the workshop, namely:
Total national palm oil production of 0.36% comes from East Kutai and exported as well as domestic and national consumption where significant production increases occur in 2019 which is 50.62%;
Collaboration has been carried out by the company, NGOs, self-help farmers and related agencies to maintain the supply chain of palm commodities;
Aspects of Sustainability of Swadaya Palm Oil Farmers are a determinant of the achievement of sustainable plantations in the East Kutai, the fulfillment of farmers' skills on good cultivation practices by paying attention to environmental aspects, conservation, HCV and HCS;
Cocoa is a superior commodity in Berau Regency. But in the last 7 years the plantation area has decreased where in the last 5 years cocoa production has decreased by 74.21%;
The area of cocoa land in Mahulu Regency since 2018 has experienced an increase in area of 64.52%;
in the volume of Berau and Mahulu Regencies are still far compared to Sulawesi and Sumatra to the amount of production, but East Kalimantan can encourage cocoa commodities as leading commodities and target the premium market; The existence of connectivity between farmers and industry can encourage sustainable collaboration with a definite market guarantee from market participants in the commodity sector both palm oil and cocoa.
