East Kalimantan Future Processing Industry Webinar
Samarinda, (13/10/2020). The Head of East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda representing the Governor of East Kalimantan was a resource person in a Webinar organized by Bisnis Indonesia East Kalimantan branch in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, Pupuk Katim and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government with the theme "Future Processing Industry of East Kalimantan"
This online event was carried out via the Zoom Meeting Application, moderated by Rahmad Subiyanto from Bisnis Indonesia. Other speakers at this event were Nurul Ichwan, Deputy for Investment Planning, Tutuk SH Cahyono, Head of Bank Indonesia Representative for East Kalimantan Province and Rahmad Pribadi, President Director of PT. Pupuk Kaltim.
In his presentation, Aswin explained that East Kalimantan's economic growth since 2010 showed a fluctuating pattern that had bottomed out in 2015 to 2016 and started to increase in 2018 and decreased again in the fourth quarter of 2019 and continued during the pandemic. covid-19 in 2020.
If you look at the GRDP structure over the last five years, the processing industry sector is in second place after the mining sector, which is the prima donna of PAD. Aswin explained that there are several opportunities for developing the processing industry sector in East Kalimantan, namely first, the position of East Kalimantan which is located in the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Channel (ALKI) II, which is one of the 3 channels that connect the southern and northern parts of Indonesia. can be used by foreign countries for the flow of goods in and out. Second, contribution from the plantation sector where 99.6% of plantation products are palm oil production. Third, the election of East Kalimantan as the capital of the new country will certainly give rise to a new economic pole.
Since 2008, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has been preparing for economic change towards development that is more balanced between the utilization of natural resource potential for economic growth and guaranteeing the sustainability of East Kalimantan for future generations, namely with Economic Transformation efforts with Industrial downstream efforts. And it continues to this day, which is reflected in the 208-2023 RPJMD Vision, namely "Dare to be Sovereign East Kalimantan. And it is translated into the 4th mission, namely Sovereignty in Sustainable Natural Resources. In the sense that East Kalimantan is more independent in processing natural resources and income from natural exploration, "The vision of Sovereign Kaltim actually provides the intention for East Kalimantan to become independent, and no longer expect or ask from the Central Government, but collect the income that East Kalimantan actually has from resource exploration. "the power that East Kalimantan produces," explained Aswin.
