Webinar of the future processing industry of East Kalimantan
Samarinda, (10/13/2020). Head of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province representing the Governor of East Kalimantan to be a guest speaker in the webinar organized by Bisnis Indonesia East Kalimantan Branch in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, Katim Fertilizer and the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan with the theme "Future Processing Industry of East Kalimantan"
This online is carried out through the Zoom Meeting application with a moderated by Rahmad Subiyanto from Bisnis Indonesia. Other speakers in this event were Nurul Ichwan Deputy Investment Planning, Tutuk SH Cahyono, Head of Representative of Bank Indonesia, East Kalimantan Province and Rahmad Pribadi President Director of PT. Pupuk Kaltim.
In his presentation Aswin explained the economic growth of East Kalimantan since 2010 showed fluctuating patterns that had been slumped in 2015 to 2016 and began to increase in 2018 and decreased again in the fourth quarter of 2019 and continued during the Covid-19 in 2020.
If you look at the GRDP structure in the last five years the manufacturing sector is in second place after the mining sector which is excellent PAD. Aswin explained that there were a number of opportunities for developing the manufacturing industry sector in East Kalimantan, namely first , the position of East Kalimantan located in the Indonesian archipelago sea channel (ALKI) II, which is one of the 3 flows that connect the southern and northern parts of Indonesia that can be used by foreign countries for the flow of goods in and out. Second , contribution from the plantation sector which 99.6% of plantation products are the production of palm oil commodities. Third, the election of East Kalimantan is the capital of a new country which will certainly cause a new economic pole.
The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan since 2008 has prepared an economic change towards a more balanced development between utilizing the potential of natural resources for economic growth with a guarantee of East Kalimantan's sustainability for the future generation, namely with economic transformation efforts with industrial downstream efforts. And it continues until now which is reflected in the vision of the RPJMD 208-2023 which is "Dare for East Kalimantan Sovereign. And elaborated into the 4th mission, namely sovereign in sustainable natural resources. In the sense that East Kalimantan is more independent in processing natural resources and income from natural exploration," the sovereign East Kalimantan vision actually gives the intention of being independent, and no longer hoping or asking for central government. Kaltim has from the exploration of resources that East Kalimantan produces "explained Aswin.
