Maloy, Spirit of Challenge

Sangatta-Kutim, 7/26/12. "Maloy Speed to be realized into a "Challenge", development 1a._Maloy-kutim_26_jul_12_-_websiteinfrastructure must stand at the front and be a leader to awaken the potential of the local area". This was said by the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Hermanto Dardak, in a discussion on the Development of the Maloy Area, at the Royal Victoria Sangatta Hotel. The event, which was part of a series of field visits by the Deputy Minister and his entourage, was attended by the Team from the Ministry of Public Works, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, Members of the DPR-RI from East Kalimantan, as well as several investors who were interested in investing in the Maloy Industrial Area and International Port.

Activities that are being carried out to accelerate the development of Maloy in FY 2012 are being carried out by several Provincial SKPDs. East Kalimantan & the Ministry according to its authority and main duties. Starting from the preparation of the Detailed Engineering Design Document (DED) for a 1000 Ha industrial area, the preparation of regional regulations for 4 Provincial Strategic Areas (KSP), the preparation of the CPO port DED, the preparation of a feasibility study for the construction of storage tanks by the Ministry of Industry, as well as various physical developments of supporting infrastructure (especially the construction of access roads to industrial areas). Coordination between stakeholders is often carried out to avoid overlap between these activities. 2._maloy_26_jul_12

In order to make Maloy a Special Economic Zone (KEK), the provincial government is also actively coordinating and fulfilling the necessary conditions. Currently, Maloy is also being proposed by one of the investors to become a SEZ. In this regard, the provincial government and potential investors are coordinating so that there is mutual protection and there is no overlapping of land or activities.

Action plan which concerns the substance of who does what, must be carefully considered. This Action plan makes it easier to integrate activities carried out by many stakeholders. Land acquisition is a main point that must be completed immediately, both industrial area land and land to build infrastructure. Infrastructure development must be actively carried out. Build infrastructure, don't wait for the local area to develop. On the contrary, good infrastructure will encourage existing potential to grow and develop even better. Currently, the Ministry of Public Works continues to improve the condition of access roads to Maloy, especially national roads which provide direct access to Maloy. In 2012, the Ministry of Public Works also provided excess budget funds (SAL) to the Maloy area to build the Kawsan access road along (12 Km + 5) amounting to IDR 258 billion. In building infrastructure, don't just look at one area, but the connection/connection with existing areas,

DR. Ir. Hermanto Dardak, M.Sc also reminded that one of Maloy's advantages that has not been highlighted is its location on the Pan Borneo Highway. This can be a promotional point that illustrates that Maloy can be developed to contribute not only at regional and national levels. However, this requires a special strategy that can be discussed again in the future.

The Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry provides suggestions that infrastructure development can be carried out based on the existence of potential raw materials. Therefore, it is necessary to map potential raw material locations. Infrastructure development (especially access roads) can then be prioritized based on locations with the greatest raw material potential. In terms of promotion, it is also recommended to continue promoting/selling Maloy to investors. Promotion does not have to be carried out when the industrial area is fully realized. However, to promote maloy, it must be ensured and believed that everything will be completed, especially regarding land acquisition.

Also present in this discussion, Ir. Hetifah Sj. Siswanda, MPP, PhD, member of Commission V DPR RI. He emphasized that the social impacts that would arise must be taken into account. These impacts include the responses and behavior of residents during the initial stages of development of the Maloy area, as well as future projections when Maloy is realized. The number of workers coming in, what the housing system will be like for immigrants and workers, need to be thought through carefully.

The business perspective cannot be separated from the attention of the provincial government in driving the development of Maloy. Palm oil is a material that can be used up in all its elements. Several inputs were provided by a team of investors who are already involved in the palm oil industry. Maloy is a palm oil industrial area that is very likely to develop very rapidly. Therefore, it is necessary to think about development for decades to come. Accessibility to the Maloy area, both from land, sea and air, is something that investors consider when investing in Maloy. Suggestions were received by the provincial government for further consideration, including infrastructure issues, land status mechanisms for investors, electricity, and waste and waste management.

Mr. Deputy Minister of Public Works also gave a message to all stakeholders in development Maloy to continue to strive to make new breakthroughs to accelerate the realization of the Maloy Area. Make special efforts, don't do "Business As Usual", he said. Data source: Head of Regional Infrastructure Sub-Division of East Kalimantan Bappeda, Ir.Hj.
