Virtual Meeting to Evaluate SEZ MBTK Readiness

Samarinda, (08/10/2020). In order to identify problems that result in delays in incoming investment, the MBTK KEK Council conducted an evaluation of the readiness of the Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan Special Economic Zone virtually via the Zoom Meeting application.

Present at this activity was the Head of the Indagkop, Investment and Tourism sub-division of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda Andi Arifudin, S.Pi, M.Si along with staff, and related regional apparatus, namely the East Kalimantan Provincial Transportation Service, Legal Bureau, Infrastructure Bureau, DPMPTSP, Assistant 2 to the East Kutai Regency Government, DPMPTSP Kab. East Kutai, Bappeda Kab. East Kutai, Disperindag Kab. East Kutai and Administrator of KEK MBTK.

Submitted by Andi There are 25 technical aspects that are evaluated from licensing, land conditions to infrastructure. From the evaluation results, only aspects of licensing and land conditions were not problematic. This is because the Administrator in East Kutai Regency is ready.

For the infrastructure aspect, there are several problems, namely first, connectivity to regional roads and to sources of raw materials still needs to be improved, because this is one of the things that business players should note. Second, the port is currently ready to operate but is still waiting for berthing tests by the Ministry of Transportation and further coordination with UPP is needed. Sangkulirang and BUP are related to port management/operators. Third, if the operator is handed over to BUP, then BUP must apply for a port business permit as a condition for implementing the port operator. Fourth, for the access road to the port which the UPP has complained about. Sangkulirang, in an effort to prepare the operations of Maloy Port, currently has a temporary access road through the office, while a special road to the port will continue to be built with the DED planned for 2021 by the Provincial Transportation Agency. For SPAM and intake facilities, clarity is hampered by who will manage them.

Andi said that the Provincial Bappeda provided input to map out the people responsible for problems in the MBTK KEK Area in accordance with their respective authorities so that there is clarity regarding the people responsible for following up on these problems.
