The Head of the East Kalimantan Bappeda Becomes a Resource Person in the East Kalimantan KPU's Socialization Regarding the Preparation of the Vision, Mission and Program for Prospective Candidates in accordance with the East Kalimantan RPJPD

Samarinda, (02/08/2024) - Head of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Yusliando, today was a resource person at the East Kalimantan Province KPU Socialization event which was held at the Mercure Samarinda Hotel. This agenda is carried out in connection with the socialization regarding the preparation of the vision, mission and program for prospective regional heads in accordance with the Long Term Regional Development Plan (RPJPD) of East Kalimantan Province.

In this agenda, Yusliando delivered a brief explanation of the RPJPD document for East Kalimantan Province, which serves as a guideline in preparing the vision, mission and program for regional head candidates.

Yusliando underlined the three main national development agendas that must be a guide for the regions, namely economic, social and governance transformation. Especially regarding economic transformation, Yusliando explained that East Kalimantan would reduce dependence on the mining and quarrying sector, and shift focus to the manufacturing sector.

He also mentioned the projected population growth in East Kalimantan which is expected to reach 6 million people in 2045, according to BPS data. Yusliando emphasized the importance for future regional heads to formulate programs that are able to handle strategic issues.

Apart from that, Yusliando highlighted challenges in the fields of environment, infrastructure and governance. Meanwhile, from 2019 to 2023, developments in the field of governance are still stagnant. According to him, there is an urgent need to improve public services and bureaucracy, especially by utilizing digital technology to be more effective in serving the community.

On this occasion, Yusliando also added that in the RPJMN document, East Kalimantan was designated as the economic driver of the eastern region of Indonesia. This shows the strategic role of this province in regional economic development and is an impetus for formulating policies that can support regional economic growth.

It is hoped that this meeting will be an illustration for prospective regional heads in preparing work programs and determining their political promises to the community.
