Head of East Kalimantan Bappeda Emphasizes the Importance of Regional Consultation Forums in GESIT and GER FGDs
The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) held a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) at the Fugo Hotel Samarinda, Monday (04/11).
This FGD aims to map needs and develop strategies for implementing the green economy and developing green jobs in East Kalimantan Province. This event is a follow-up to the kick-off meeting which was held on September 18 2024. This FGD discussed two main projects, namely Green Jobs for Social Inclusion and Sustainable Transformation (GESIT) and Green Economic Recovery (GER).
The GESIT project focuses on developing the capacity of stakeholders to encourage increased employment in the field of green jobs in an inclusive manner. Meanwhile, the GER Project aims to support Indonesia's transformation towards a sustainable green economy. East Kalimantan Province was chosen as the project location because it is considered one of the pioneer provinces in implementing a green economy and developing green jobs.
The Head of the East Kalimantan Bappeda, Yusliando, who was one of the speakers at the FGD, emphasized the importance of regional consultation forums as a forum for reaching agreements and formulating economic transformation strategies.
It was further stated that the Regional Consultation Forum in East Kalimantan Province which was formed at the end of October 2024 is a forum for various stakeholders to discuss and provide input regarding policies and strategies for accelerating economic transformation in East Kalimantan Province, especially those related to the green economy. This forum consists of various stakeholders ranging from elements of the central, provincial, district/city government, academics, development partners, to the private sector. It is hoped that this forum can bridge the interests of various parties, produce solid recommendations that can be implemented, and work until 2045.
The FGD, which was also attended by the Head of the PSDA, PPM and Young Expert Planners of the East Kalimantan Bappeda, produced several important outputs, including: increasing understanding and awareness about the green economy and green jobs, mapping the situation and conditions of the green economy in East Kalimantan, mapping the need for green and green economic development jobs, as well as policy recommendations to support green economic growth and green jobs in East Kalimantan.
