The Governor of East Kalimantan Dr. H. Awang Faroek Ishak officially confirmed the Head of East Kalimantan Province Bappeda Dr. H. Zairin Zain, M.Sc as Temporary Acting (PJS) of Samarinda Mayor as stipulated in the Minister of Home Affairs Decree No. 131.64-267 Year 2018.

"I believe that Dr. H. Zairin Zain, M.Si will be able to carry out the duties and responsibilities as well as possible in accordance with the Decree given by the Minister of the Interior" said Awang during the inauguration of the Acting Temporary Mayor of Samarinda.

This event was held at the Lamin Etam Office of the Governor of East Kalimantan, appeared to be present by Samarinda Mayor H. Syahrie Jaang and his wife, Plt. Regional Secretary of Meiliana Province, Samarinda City Secretary Sugeng Chairuddin, as well as a number of officials within the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and officials in the Samarinda City Government.

After the inauguration of the Acting Mayor of Samarinda, the event continued with the signing of the minutes, then the installation of the office sign, embedding the position of the office and the submission of the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia by the Governor of East Kalimantan. After that, it was continued with the reading of the facts of integrity by Zairin Zain and the signing of the facts of integrity.

As mentioned in the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs, the term of office of the Acting Mayor of Samarinda from February 15, 2018 to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Samarinda carried out leave outside the dependents of the state to carry out the regional election campaign (Pilkada) simultaneously in 2018.

The task of the Acting Mayor of Samarinda in accordance with the mandate of the Decree is to lead the implementation of government affairs which are the authority of the region, maintain the peace and order of the public, facilitate the implementation of the definitive governor and deputy governor election and maintain the neutrality of civil servants (PNS), and discuss the draft regional regulations and sign the Regional Regulation after obtaining approval from the Minister of the Interior.

Governor Awang Faroek hopes that in addition to the task of becoming the Acting Mayor, the main task of the permanent official as the Chairperson of Bapeda East Kalimantan will continue to be carried out especially to succeed all government strategic projects in East Kalimantan. This was stated by him when giving a speech at the event, "There should be no strategic projects that do not work all must work, therefore I really hope that you are in addition to being a temporary official from the Mayor of Samarinda to maintain success, the sustainability of development towards East Kalimantan and prosperous until the end of the term of office of the Governor of East Kalimantan in December 2018" he said.

Awang also appealed to Zairin as Chairman of Bappeda, Plt. The Regional Secretary and all OPDs must have a strong determination to continue the success that has been achieved to date.
