Head of Government and Human Development Division, Discusses Village Fund Utilization Priorities in 2024 Village Fund Utilization Technical Coordination Meeting

Samarinda, 05/30/2024 – Head of Government and Human Development (PPM) Bappeda Kaltim, Mispoyo, was a resource person at the 2024 Village Fund Utilization Technical Coordination Meeting held at the Horison Hotel Samarinda. This meeting was organized by the Directorate General of Village and Rural Development from the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia.

Attended by Village Heads in East Kalimantan Province, the East Kalimantan Province Village Community Empowerment Service (PMPD), the East Kalimantan Province Community Empowerment and Village Government Service (DPMPD) and other related OPDs, the meeting focused on the utilization of village funds and priorities for their use.

Village funds are state recognition funds given to villages with the aim of enabling villages to exercise their authority independently. In his speech, the Director of Facilitation for the Utilization of Village Funds, Luthfy Latief, emphasized that village funds must be used to solve various village problems such as alleviating poverty, improving education, as well as promoting health and the community movement for healthy living.

In line with this presentation, Mispoyo highlighted that the main problem in villages in East Kalimantan is related to Human Resources (HR). "In terms of education, there are still 12 years of compulsory education that have not been completed. This is the duty and responsibility of the village government to promote a minimum of 12 years of compulsory education. Next year, based on the RPJPN, the minimum of compulsory education is 13 years, including 1 year of PAUD. We have coordinated with the Regency and City governments to make Kindergarten free for at least 1 year, and the hope is that this can be implemented throughout East Kalimantan Province," said Mispoyo.

Apart from education, improving health facilities in villages, including handling stunting prevention, is also a priority. Mispoyo invites the village government to play an active role in optimizing posyandu services. "Contact the local health department, because the district/city health office and provincial department are willing to facilitate free health matters, including reducing stunting by distributing free TTD (blood supplement tablets) and health education at no cost," he explained.

Mispoyo also appealed to the village government to develop tourist villages and stimulate the village's creative economy. "I hope that ladies and gentlemen can create villages that become tourist destinations. We have to keep up with the times. Our people, especially the young, really like culinary delights and social media. Nature tourism is very popular, such as in South Sempaja, Samarinda, where rice fields alone can be a big attraction. The power of social media is extraordinary, these small things can be developed in villages," he explained.

In the education sector, village governments are also encouraged to actively disseminate information about state-funded free schools and registration for regional and national scholarships. "One child who is successful has the potential to eradicate poverty for other children. Now it can be socialized that many official schools are free and there is scholarship assistance from the regional government. The most important thing is the willingness to learn," concluded Mispoyo.

With various efforts and targeted use of village funds, it is hoped that the welfare of village communities can increase. The government and village communities must work together to achieve this goal, so that villages in East Kalimantan and throughout Indonesia can be more advanced, independent and prosperous.
