Kick Off the RPJMD Technocratic Draft: Formulating a Strategy to Lead the Economy of Eastern Indonesia
Samarinda (25/06/2024) - Preparation of the Technocratic Draft Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for the period 2025-2029 was held at the Mercure Hotel Samarinda. This preparation agenda focuses on the Roadmap for Economic Transformation in East Kalimantan for the next five years.
Attended by resource persons from the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, namely Regional Director II Muhammad Roudo and Director of Macro Planning and Statistical Analysis Eko Chandra Buanda, as well as Director of Macro Planning of the IKN Authority, Agustimi Masuk, who also provided their views and input regarding Economic transformation in Kalimantan Timur.
The event was opened by the Regional Secretary of East Kalimantan Province, Sri Wahyuni. In his speech he emphasized the important role of East Kalimantan Province as the main economic driver in Kalimantan and eastern Indonesia, especially with the presence of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). He stated that East Kalimantan contributes around 48 percent to the regional economy of Kalimantan, in accordance with the spirit of the song Mars East Kalimantan which emphasizes the welfare of all of East Kalimantan.
Secretary of the East Kalimantan Bappeda, Saur Parsaoran as the Daily Executive Head of the East Kalimantan Bappeda explained that the policy direction of East Kalimantan Province in realizing the economic center of the eastern region of Indonesia, will focus on five elements. Namely the economic focus where East Kalimantan is a strong Economic Driver for the Eastern Region of Indonesia based on the downstreaming of superior commodities. The second element is a focus on human resources and government in realizing good governance and superior human resources, the next focus is on a sustainable environment. Then there are directions for infrastructure based on green and environmentally friendly energy and a social focus that is protective, adaptive and integrated.
The process of preparing this technocratic document is targeted for completion in July 2024, so that in August it can be used as material for regional head candidates who will compete in the East Kalimantan gubernatorial election in November 2024.
With this opening meeting, it is hoped that East Kalimantan will be better prepared to face the challenges and opportunities in the next five years, especially in its role as the main economic driver in the eastern region of Indonesia.
