Berau DPRD Coordination Regarding Handling Derawan Beach Abrasion
Samarinda, 24 September 2020 . In the framework of consultation and coordination related to the handling of coastal abrasion on Derawan Island as many as two members of the Berau Regency DPRD paid a working visit to the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda.

Ir. Hj. Elita Herlina, M.Sc from Commission II said Derawan Island is currently in the poor stage, some cultural heritage on Derawan Island has been damaged due to abrasion for example the disappeared coastal poly court and the historical tourism of the Suharto President's house that has been rushed by abrasion, "This is our concern that Derawan is no longer attractive, while Derawan Island is one of the tourism potentials that contribute to PAD. Even Derawan is not only the pride of East Kalimantan but also the pride of Kaltara, "he explained.
related to this Aswin said he had coordinated with the area of regional infrastructure, and found that the Derawan Islands entered into the Berau Kelay river which is the central authority.

East Kalimantan Provincial Government has proposed the "Safety of Derawan Island" in 2019 Public Works in Lombok and the 2020 Public Works Kongeg in Manado, but according to the Ministry of Public Works, it has not been a top priority so it only enters into the stock program.
In the future it is necessary to carry out a strategy of proposing by the Provincial Government, Regency Government and Berau DPRD so that the security of the Derawan Island Coast can be a top priority of the Ministry of Public Works in 2021.
