Indonesia is one of the countries that actively uses coal to drive economic activities and the provision of national electricity. However, the use of coal is also considered as one of the main causes of increased greenhouse gases that cause the phenomenon of climate change. The Indonesian government needs to respond wisely to use coal in Indonesia to be in line with the energy transition process. In an effort to support this, the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas together with GIZ and IESR through the Clean, Affordable, and Secure Energy for South East Asia (CASE) programs held an interactive discussion with the theme: The Role of the Coal Sector in Facing the Challenges of Energy Transition in Indonesia.
Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province, represented by the Head of Economy and Natural Resources, Ir. Hidayanti Darma, M.P., became one of the speakers in an interactive discussion about the role of the coal sector in facing the challenges of energy transitions in Indonesia.
he conveyed the global energy transition strategy that has been in line with the efforts of East Kalimantan has encouraged economic changes to more balanced development between the utilization of SDA potential for economic growth with a guarantee of East Kalimantan's sustainability for future generations with economic transformation. This is reflected in every vision and mission of the East Kalimantan RPJMD since 2008 which emphasizes the downstreaming of the product with an increase in the added value of SDA in East Kalimantan until now the 2019-2023 RPJMD period with a brave vision for sovereign East Kalimantan.
