Update on the Progress of Implementing the FCPF Carbon Fund Program in East Kalimantan
One effort to ensure that the earth's temperature does not increase by more than 1.5°C - 2°C is through efforts to prevent the removal of forested areas (deforestation) and a decrease in the quality of forest cover (forest degradation). FCPF-Carbon Fund, as an incentive mechanism based on emission reduction performance, is one part of the REDD+ program. This program is implemented throughout the province of East Kalimantan, which is implemented jointly by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and its UPT, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and its land-based regional apparatus, the Regency/Municipal Government and regional apparatus according to their authority, the Village Government, the Private Sector, Community Groups, Universities, Non-Governmental Organizations, and other development partners. The FCPF-Carbon Fund program will be implemented from 2020 to 2024, with a process of measuring achievements in 2022 and 2024, and providing incentives in 2023 and 2025.
Forest Carbon Partnership Facility-Carbon Fund (FCPF-CF) is a Greenhouse Gas emission reduction incentive facility from the World Bank with a performance-based payment scheme.
