Development of Food Crops and Horticulture in East Kalimantan

Wednesday, 03/23/2022. Head of Bappeda East Kalimantan Province, Prof. Dr. Ir. HM. Aswin, MM was a resource person at the Food Crops and Horticulture Development Meeting in East Kalimantan which took place at the Jatra Balikpapan Hotel.

In general, Prof. Aswin in his presentation conveyed the stages of procedures for preparing the 2023 RKPD, the achievements of macro indicators, and the development conditions of the agricultural sector (in the broadest sense) in East Kalimantan in 2021.

Prof. On this occasion, Aswin also said that the problem with the development of food crop and horticultural agriculture in East Kalimantan Province was the low production and productivity of food and horticultural crops to meet local food needs. This is demonstrated by the lack of optimal development of food crop farming areas, horticulture and sustainable food agricultural land protection; and the lack of optimal institutional performance in supporting the productivity of food crops and horticulture.

He also explained that the Food Agriculture sector, apart from being the Governor's flagship program, also directly supports the SDGs/Sustainable Development Goals such as indicators of the prevalence of adequacy of food consumption, indicators of the quality of food consumption, and added value of agriculture divided by the number of workers in the agricultural sector.
