Opening of the USAID SEGAR Environmental Monitoring System Study Validation Workshop in East Kalimantan
Head of Bappeda East Kalimantan Province, Prof. Dr. Ir. H M. Aswin, M.M., gave a speech at the "Environmental Monitoring System Study Validation Workshop" carried out by the Sustainable Environmental Governance Across Regions (USAID-SEGAR) Project in East Kalimantan.
The event, which was held online on Wednesday, December 1 2021, was attended by 30 relevant stakeholder participants.
In his speech, Prof. Aswin conveyed about development problems, especially environmental degradation and social conflicts that are currently increasingly complex, in line with increasing development activities and demands on the socio-economic life of society both at the local and national levels.
This problem is exacerbated by the emergence of the phenomenon of climate change which is characterized by floods, droughts, air pollution (forest and land fires) and water pollution as well as other disasters.
