East Kalimantan Provincial Government Strengthens Commitment to Carbon Low Development Through AKSARA

The East Kalimantan Provincial Government through the East Kalimantan Bappeda reaffirms its commitment to low carbon development through the 2024 East Kalimantan Province Low Carbon Development (PRK) Action Reporting activity. This event was held hybrid (offline and online) on December 3 2024 at the Mercure Samarinda Hotel, and became a forum for reporting PRK achievements through the Planning and Application portal. Bappenas Low Carbon Development Action Monitoring (AKSARA).

Low carbon development is one of the key strategies for achieving a green economy and sustainable development, which is in line with the vision of Advanced Indonesia 2045 and the target of zero emissions by 2060. Head of the Economic and Natural Resources Division of the East Kalimantan Bappeda, Wahyu Gatut Purboyo, who represents the Head of the East Kalimantan Bappeda, in his speech emphasized that the transformation of the Indonesian economy into a green economy is an important step to get out of the "middle income trap". The green economy and low carbon development are expected to encourage economic growth and improve social welfare, without sacrificing environmental quality.

AKSARA plays an important role in realizing low-carbon development in Indonesia. AKSARA is designed as a transparent, accurate, complete, consistent and integrated platform for planning, monitoring and reporting low carbon development actions. AKSARA's main objective is to ensure the availability of accurate and participatory climate change mitigation data and information, as well as credible and transparent reports on the achievements of mitigation actions from various sectors, both at the central and regional levels.

Through AKSARA, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government reports a total of 1,939 CRP actions until 2024, with a potential cumulative emission reduction of 44.6 million tons of CO2e and an emissions intensity of 36.58 tons of CO2e/Billion Rupiah. This achievement is the result of collaboration from various parties, including the Provincial, Regency/City Government, business actors and development partners. The Head of PSDA Bappeda Kaltim also expressed his appreciation to the 41 Business Actors and 45 Development Partners who have actively contributed to reporting GRA actions through AKSARA.

Through this activity, it is hoped that all parties, including the Provincial, Regency/City Government, can continue to actively report GRA actions through AKSARA. It is also hoped that this consistent and participatory reporting can support the achievement of the GHG emission reduction indicator targets in the East Kalimantan RPJPD and RPJMD, as well as realizing the vision and mission of developing East Kalimantan. sustainable.
