Coordination Meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs

Thursday, 02/16/2022. Secretary of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Ms. Charmarijaty, ST, M.Si representing the Head of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province, attended the "Coordination Meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs" held at the Balikpapan Mayor's Office.

This meeting was attended by the Minister of Home Affairs along with the Ministry of Home Affairs, East Kalimantan Governor, Regional Head (representing) IKN partners including Paser, Penajam Paser Utara, Kutai Kartanegara, Balikpapan, and Chair of the DPRD Kaltim, Paser, Kukar, Paser and PPU. While the provincial scope is attended by Bappeda and the East Kalimantan Province PUPR Office.

This meeting is the initial agenda carried out in the process of preparing a Government Regulation (PP) which is a derivative of the Implementation of the Law of the State Capital (IKN Law). The Ministry of Home Affairs is given the task of being the person in charge (lead) in the preparation of the PP, has formed the PP Declaration Team for the IKN Law chaired by Dr. Drs. Safrizal, Z.A., M.Sc (Director General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Administration Development). After the implementation of this meeting, a further meeting agenda will be carried out for more detailed discussions regarding the preparation of the IKN Law.

Mr. East Kalimantan Governor (H. Isran Noor) conveyed in his remarks that all regions in East Kalimantan Province, especially the buffer area/around IKN, strongly support the presence of IKN in East Kalimantan. The condition of East Kalimantan is currently still conducive after the determination of the IKN Law in January. He hoped that on the occasion of this coordination meeting, the Minister of Home Affairs could provide direction for the progress of East Kalimantan in relation to the presence of this IKN.

The event continued with the exposure and direction of the Minister of the Interior (Mr. Tito Karnavian) to all meeting participants. It was conveyed that the purpose of the coordination meeting was to accelerate the preparation of the PP derivative of the IKN Law with the Ministry of Home Affairs as its lead. Furthermore, he said that IKN is an opportunity that must be utilized for the people of East Kalimantan in particular and Indonesia in general. It is expected that all regions in East Kalimantan will prepare a grand design for the short, medium and long term in order to capture the opportunities of the presence of IKN for the progress of their respective regions. It is also important to make innovations related to opening investment opportunities in East Kalimantan.

On this occasion, he also asked for various inputs and views from all regional heads of IKN Mitra who attended, especially in relation to the optimization of the implementation of IKN development to then be input in the preparation of PP and can be conveyed to the President. Some things that can be summarized through the delivery of a number of regional heads (representing) include the need to pay attention to the conditions of supporting infrastructure, especially related to connectivity between regions, flood problems, congestion, social problems, education and health that are still faced by the people of East Kalimantan. A number of regional heads (representing) also convey their support for the presence of IKN and are ready to capture every opportunity that exists.
