East Kalimantan Provincial Level Stunting Consultation in 2023

Samarinda, (09/10/2023). The Head of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda attended the East Kalimantan Province Level Stunting Consultation with the theme "Priority Program Data Integration as a Basis for Accelerating Stunting Reduction" at the Mercure Samarinda Hotel.

The problem of stunting is a serious concern in East Kalimantan because the prevalence rate is relatively high, so the provincial government has intervened directly in implementing the acceleration of stunting reduction. Therefore, a stunting consultation was carried out as the third action carried out after the situation analysis and activity planning stages.

This consultation aims to convey the results of the situation analysis and design of an integrated stunting reduction intervention activity plan, declare the regional government's commitment and agree on an integrated stunting reduction intervention activity plan and build public commitment in integrated stunting reduction activities at the provincial and district/city levels.

"Through integrated stunting consultation activities in improving budget planning, it is hoped that a process of confirmation, improvisation and sector synergy will be built as a concrete manifestation of regional leadership in reducing stunting," said Mr. Yusliando in his speech.

This event was attended by the Regional Secretary of East Kalimantan Province, Mrs. Sri Wahyuni and at the same time opened the East Kalimantan Province Stunting Conference. Furthermore, in the deliberation each Regency/City representative presented a report on the implementation of convergence actions to accelerate stunting reduction in their area.

From the results of the presentation from each Regency/City, Mrs. Sri Wahuyuni as Provincial Secretary. East Kalimantan highlighted that the implementation of convergence actions to accelerate stunting reduction focuses not only on handling but also prevention. The main targets that must be targeted at this time are families who have the potential to be affected by stunting, meanwhile, according to Mr. Annas as an expert in the data analysis field from the INEY (Investing in Nutrition and Early) Team of the Directorate General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Reg 4, he stated that it is necessary to pay close attention to the determinant factors in the implementation of accelerating stunting reduction so that the implementation runs optimally.

For information, according to the 2021 and 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the prevalence of stunting in East Kalimantan is still high with an increase of 1.1 percent from the initial figure of 22.8 percent to 23.9%. Then the number in East Kalimantan reached 16,000 according to data from the Health Service. Meanwhile, according to the Head of Representative of BKKBN (National Population and Family Planning Agency) the target that must be achieved by East Kalimantan Province is 12.83% in 2024.

"The prevalence rate target for East Kalimantan Province in 2024 must be accompanied by integrated policies starting from the provincial and district/city governments. The East Kalimantan Provincial Government itself is trying to implement policies through financial assistance, strengthening village fund allocations, I hope for commitment from regional heads, TPPS (Stunting Acceleration Handling Team), and also cooperation from Posyandu to be more active in providing initial services to community," said Mrs. Sri Wahyuni as Chair of DPID IKAL Lemhanas Kaltim.
