Kalimantan Border Development
Balikpapan, Wednesday 20/5/15. The border area between Indonesia and neighboring Malaysia is 122 villages on the island of Kalimantan which
bordering directly with neighboring countries has received serious attention from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in the development of 3 priority programs, namely the security, economic and socio-cultural sectors of society border.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Communications and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, Rudiantara when leading the 107th National Awakening Day rally at Km 13 or Km 0 of the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road, Wednesday, 20/5/15 which was attended by the Governor of East Kalimantan, DR.H. Awang Faroek Ishak, Acting Governor of North Kalimantan, Governor of West Kalimantan or his representative as well as a number of officials in the Ministry of Institutions of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as officials from the Government of East Kalimantan Province, West Kalimantan Province and North Kalimantan Province totaling approximately eight people.
Meanwhile, participants among the East Kalimantan Provincial Government were attended by the Regional Secretary, DR.Ir. Irianto Lambrie and the Head of the Kalimantan Province Bappeda as well as all SKPD Heads as well as echelon III, Echelon IV officials and staff who took part in the rally and the roll call was also attended by the TNI, Polri and East Kalimantan students.
In his speech, Rudiantara said that all 122 villages located in the direct border areas between countries are the front porch of this nation. The central government is very interested in protecting the Republic of Indonesia together with the Provincial Government and Regency/City Government.
The Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia launched GEBYAR (Joint Movement, Let's Work, Work, Work, which was marked by the release of balloons and doves, inaugurating and at the same time signing a joint agreement including:
1. Between the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, West Kalimantan Provincial Government and North Kalimantan Provincial Government regarding the Acceleration of Development and Utilization of Basic Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure to provide services telecommunications to communities in the provinces of East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan Province and North Kalimantan Province;
2. Between the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government with the Republic of Indonesia Public Broadcasting Institution Radio and the Republic of Indonesia Television Public Broadcasting Institution regarding the Acceleration of Development and Utilization of Basic Infrastructure in the Field of Information and Communication Technology to provide information dissemination services to the public in the East Kalimantan Province region;
3. Between the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia and West Kalimantan Provincial Government with the Republic of Indonesia Radio Public Broadcasting Institution and the Republic of Indonesia Television Public Broadcasting Institution regarding the Acceleration of Development and Utilization of Basic Infrastructure in the Field of Information and Communication Technology to provide information dissemination services to the public in the West Kalimantan Province region;
4. Between the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia and the Provincial Government of North Kalimantan with the Republic of Indonesia Radio Public Broadcasting Institution and the Republic of Indonesia Television Public Broadcasting Institution regarding the Acceleration of Development and Utilization Basic Infrastructure in the Field of Information and Communication Technology to provide information dissemination services to the community in the North Kalimantan Province region.
In addition to signing the agreement with the Minister of Communication and Information, the Working Cabinet under the Government of President Ir.H. Joko Widodo – H. Jujul Kalla also inaugurated and groundbreaking a number of development projects in East Kalimantan Province, namely the inauguration of 2 x 100 MW and 2 x 15 MW power plants as well as the groundbreaking for the construction of diesel power plants also by the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia.
The next event was a thanksgiving for the acceleration of the construction of the Balikpapan - Samarinda toll road segments 1 to 5, marked by sirens by the Minister of Communication and Informatics together with the Governor of East Kalimantan, DR.H. Awang Faroek Ishak and a number of other officials.
The Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, Rudiantara and the Governor of East Kalimantan, DR.H. Awang Faroek Ishak together with a number of officials from the Ministry of Institutions of the Republic of Indonesia as well as officials from the East Kalimantan Provincial Government inspected the display room or exhibition displayed and presented the projects that were inaugurated and also displayed the Maloy SEZ, Kariangau Container Port, development of the agricultural sector in a broad sense, education, fisheries, livestock and others. Likewise, reviewing the location of existing toll road space to the location of the power plant which was inaugurated in Kariangau.
