HDIVERS OF CONCEPTS AND COOPERATION OF COOPERATION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA AND GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERAL OF GERMAN
Samarinda, (27/08/2020) . The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan is currently trying to implement green development and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from non -sustainable land use.
In general, peat ecosystems in Indonesia (peat and mangroves) are complex and interrelated ecosystems, and act as absorbent of the most efficient natural terrestrial carbon, as a freshwater filter and as a flood protection.
In East Kalimantan itself, peatlands are under a large pressure from fire problems and peat damage and greenhouse gas emissions caused by these conditions.
related to that Giz together with Bappeda Province of East Kalimantan held a hearing of the concepts and scope of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the German Federal Republic in management and peat protection.
The meeting led by the Head of East Kalimantan Province Bappeda Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Aswin, MM aims to deliver activities from Propeat and subsequently expected to get beneficial input for the implementation of the Propeat program in East Kalimantan Province.
This project is a cooperation between countries between the Government of Indonesia and the German Federal Republic which is facilitated by Giz Development Partners in encouraging the revitalization of peatlands and wetlands in the Delta Kayan Sembakung province and peatlands in the province of Kalimantan East.
