Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province is Nominated for Phase II Regional Development Assessment (PPD) at the Provincial Level in 2024

The Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province was nominated for Phase II Regional Development Assessment (PPD) at the Provincial Level in 2024 which was held by the Ministry of Bappenas/PPN on Wednesday (13/03/2024).

The second phase of the PPD agenda was held in the form of FGDs and interviews as well as a presentation by the Head of the East Kalimantan Bappeda.

The event took place at the Mercure Samarinda Hotel, inviting various stakeholders, both government and non-government, as well as academics.

In the presentation by the Head of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Yusliando conveyed several points including, the evaluation of the achievements of the 2022-2023 Main Performance Indicators (IKU) has several improvements or shows a more positive direction in several sectors, namely, Human Development Index, Poverty Level, Economic Growth Rate, Open Unemployment Rate, Non Oil and Gas Coal LPE, Farmer Exchange Rate, Gini index, Environmental Quality Index and Bureaucratic Reform Index.

Furthermore, several Regional Development Achievements in East Kalimantan were presented by the Head of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Yusliando, explaining that there were 6 achievements that showed East Kalimantan's achievements in the field of Regional Development including, Achievements in Handling Extreme Poverty, Development Performance in the Field of Handling Stunting, Number of East Kalimantan Scholarship recipients which increased every year from 2020 to 2023, Success Agricultural Development (Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Farming, Plantation) in East Kalimantan, Providing Livable Houses for Low Income Communities in East Kalimantan and Achievements of Tourism Development in East Kalimantan (Pela Village).

Meanwhile, the Regional Development Achievement that is most highlighted in its implementation is the handling of extreme poverty, where in 2022 there will be 1.55% or 59,780 people in extreme poverty. Then the figure decreases drastically in 2023 with a percentage of 0.10% or 3,190 people.

A total of 8 development priorities in East Kalimantan Province in 2024 were expressed by Yusliando as Head of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, namely, increasing the competitiveness of human resources which encourages employment, increasing the level of public health by optimizing hospital services and other health service facilities, strengthening economic transformation efforts through vertical and horizontal diversification in leading sectors, strengthening infrastructure, alleviating extreme poverty, improving environmental quality in a sustainable manner, increasing professional and accountable regional government governance to support the transformation of public services, increasing regional readiness as IKN partners by optimizing cooperation.

For information, this Phase II Assessment aims to obtain information and confirmation from planning stakeholders (Bappeda/OPD) and non-government stakeholders regarding development achievements, the quality and process of preparing planning documents, and regional innovation.

The results of phase II, apart from being used as an assessment component, can also be used as an evaluation for Provinces, Regencies and Cities.

Furthermore, the Regional Development Award (PPD) is an appreciation from the Ministry of Bappenas/PPN for regional governments in producing quality, efficient planning and achieving their targets as well as the creativity of regional innovations carried out.

The regional development process basically requires transparency, participation and collaboration as the main keys in strengthening the foundations of development.

Therefore, together, the regional government is committed to realizing a better life for all citizens of East Kalimantan Province.
