Exposure to the protection and restoration/rehabilitation of mangroves, swamps, and community -based peat in East Kalimantan
Samarinda, (11/07/2023). Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province through young expert planners in the Industrial, Trade, Cooperative, Investment and Tourism Sub -Coordinator Expert, Mr. Dany Fachriza attended the exposure of Mangrove, Rawa, and Community -Based Peat Protection/Rehabilitation Activities in East Kalimantan organized by the Provincial Environment Agency. East Kalimantan at the Mercure Hotel Samarinda. • Activities opened by the Secretary of Prov. Kaltim, Mrs. Sri Wahyuni was attended by around 104 participants consisting of elements of the central government, vertical agencies, OPD in the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and Regency/City, as well as elements of the East Kalimantan Provincial DPRD, academics, NGOs, journalists, and banks.

In his remarks, he hoped that through this activity it could be disseminated information about the development of the Mangrove, Swamp, and Peat Rehabilitation/Rehabilitation Program in East Kalimantan.

Furthermore, through this activity can produce recommendations for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government together with all development partners in an effort to play an active role in the protection and restoration/rehabilitation of mangroves, swamps, and peat in East Kalimantan.

To note, the wetland ecosystem has a great role and benefit for social, economic, and ecological life in East Kalimantan. The partnership of the management of wetland ecosystems has now become a model initiative in the Green Growth Compact agreement program in East Kalimantan. Activities related to the partnership of mangrove protection and management by the parties have been initiated in Berau Regency through the Berau Forest Carbon Program and in the Mahakam Delta. In 2023, there were two new model initiatives related to the management of wetland ecosystems in Mesangat-Suwi East Kutai and Muara Siran Kutai Kartanegara. Therefore this activity is carried out to share information related to the development and experience in the management, protection and restoration/rehabilitation programs in the Mangrove, Swamp, and Community -Based Peat Areas in East Kalimantan.
