FGD Smart Province: Realizing Smart Province in East Kalimantan
Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province through government and human development attended the East Kalimantan Smart Province Group Discussion Forum (FGD) organized by Diskominfo East Kalimantan at the Mercure Hotel Samarinda, Thursday (19/9).
FGD which is attended by regional apparatus in the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, the Element of Regency/City Diskominfo, Academics, and other related development partners aims to explore input and recommendations from various related parties to prepare strategic steps in the development of East Kalimantan as an intelligent province.
In a discussion moderated by Dedy Cahyadi, S.Kom., M.Eng as the Head of the Internet Application Lab Faculty of Engineering, Mulawarman University presented 2 speakers, including:
1. Mr. Dr. Endroyono from ITS Surabaya; and
2. Mr. Firdaus Masyhur from BPSDMPS Kominfo/Smart City Expert.
there are 3 initial recommendations submitted by Dr. Endroyono to realize East Kalimantan as Smart Province, including:
• All related stakeholders need to be invited to understand Smart Province, in order to have the same perspective and approach, by noting that the role of the province is an interface, balancer, and strengthner;
• East Kalimantan Province needs to explicitly choose the "Smart" framework which is used changes;
• Understanding that technology is only enabler, and the development of Smart Province has the urgency of the harmonization of business processes, regulations and technology, complementary to the existence of smart-city in its region.
In addition, the second resource person, Firdaus Masyhur explained various challenges in realizing East Kalimantan as Smart Province which included coordination between districts and cities, infrastructure readiness, human resources (HR), regulations and policies, community participation, and funding.
The activity continued with a discussion with all participants present to increase collaboration and synergy to explore suggestions and input in efforts to develop East Kalimantan as an intelligent province.
