Smart Province FGD: Realizing a Smart Province in East Kalimantan
Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province through the Government and Human Development Sector attended the East Kalimantan Smart Province Forum Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the East Kalimantan Diskominfo at the Mercure Samarinda Hotel, Thursday (19/9).
The FGD which was attended by Regional Apparatus within the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, District/City Diskominfo elements, Academics and other related Development Partners aimed to explore input and recommendations from various related parties to prepare strategic steps in developing East Kalimantan as a Smart Province.
In the discussion moderated by Dedy Cahyadi, S.Kom., M.Eng as Head of the Internet Application Lab, Faculty of Engineering, Mulawarman University, there were 2 speakers, including:
1. Mr. Dr. Endroyono from ITS Surabaya; and
2. Mr. Firdaus Masyhur from BPSDMPS Kominfo/Smart City Expert.
There were 3 initial recommendations made by Dr. Endroyono to realize KALTIM as a SMART PROVINCE, including:
• All relevant stakeholders need to be invited to understand SMART PROVINCE, so that they have the same perspective and approach, taking into account that the role of the Province is INTERFACE, BALANCER, and STRENGTHENER;
• Kaltim Province needs to firmly choose the "smart" framework that will be followed and choose pillars or priority domains with high failure rates, in general because of the framework used changes;
• Understand that technology is only an enabler, and the development of a smart province has the urgency of harmonizing business processes, regulations and technology, complementary to the existence of a smart city in the region.
The activity continued with a discussion with all participants present to increase collaboration and synergy to explore suggestions and input in efforts to develop East Kalimantan as a Smart Province.
