Head of East Kalimantan Bappeda became a speaker in the National Discussion of ISEW 2024

Jakarta, (09/13/2024) - Head of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province, Yusliando became a speaker in the Indonesia Sustainable Energy Week (ISW) in 2024 organized by the Ministry of National Development Planning (VAT)/Bappenas and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with Deutsche Gesellschaft Für International Zusammenarbeit GMBH (GIZ) at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Friday (9/13).

Being a speaker in this event is part of the implementation of change projects in national leadership training Level II Head of Bappeda. One of the points of Milestone in this change project is the issuance of the East Kalimantan Governor's decree related to the Regional Consultation Forum to accelerate economic transformation.

In addition, participation in this event acts as a strategic step to disseminate initiation to obtain support from the central government and potential stakeholders that will be part of the forum to be formed.

The ISW 2024 was carried out for 4 days, 10-13 September 2024 with the theme "United Towards Sustainable Future: Advancing Energy Transition to Achieve Indonesia Gold and Net Zero Emissions".

"East Kalimantan Provincial Government since 2005 has had aspirations not to depend on the non-sustainable sector. Indicated from the RPJPD target 2005-2025 that the processing industry reached around 34% in 2025", conveyed by the Head of Bappeda Kaltim in the discussion.

further said that with the establishment of East Kalimantan as an IKN Economic Superhub where the location is the same as the development plan in East Kalimantan. This implementation requires collaboration from various parties. Of course this step is an effort to accelerate East Kalimantan's economic transformation.

In a discussion session moderated by Nyimas Wardah as Iki-Jet Advisor, Giz Indonesia/ ASEAN, there were 3 other speakers, including:

1. Nizhar Marizi, Director of Energy, Mineral and Mining Resources (SDEMP), Ministry of PPN/Bappenas;

2. Hari Wibawa, Head of Economy and Funding for the Development of Bappeda Province of South Sumatra;

3. Muce Mochtar, National Coordinator Program, ILO;

The focus of the discussion session is related to the establishment of a regional consultation forum to accelerate East Kalimantan's economic transformation, especially facing energy transitions towards clean zero emissions or minimal energy use of coal.

Through this discussion, it is hoped that stakeholders in the energy sector and the general public who are the target participants in this dialogue, including the central and regional governments, academics, private companies (especially in coal), media/journalists, indigenous peoples, religious organizations, women and youth, and environment National/Bappenas.
