Consolidation of Poverty in Regencies/Cities in East Kalimantan
Balikpapan, (10/10/2023). Head of Government and Human Development, Mr. Mispoyo chaired the poverty consolidation meeting for districts/cities throughout East Kalimantan at the Kayan Swissbell Hotel meeting room, Balikpapan. The meeting was held for two days from 10-11 October 2023 and was attended by all Bappelitbang and Social Services throughout East Kalimantan.
This consolidation was held in order to reduce the poverty rate in East Kalimantan in accordance with Presidential Instruction number 4 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty. In this consolidation, data verification and validation is carried out for accelerated action to eliminate extreme poverty.
The East Kalimantan Provincial Government's commitment to alleviating poverty is stated in the 2024-2026 RPJMD (Regional Medium Term Development Plan). In the development target of 'increasing the economic empowerment of the poor', it is targeted to reach 0.894 in the Poverty Depth Index and 0.204 in the Poverty Severity Index by 2026.
Poverty alleviation bureaucratic reform was chosen as one of the focuses in East Kalimantan Province. To achieve this, several things were carried out, including identifying the distribution and characteristics of the poor population to find out the focus locations and carrying out budget planning in implementing poverty alleviation with the support of all sectors.
For information, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture publishes data by name by address which is managed by provincial, district and city governments in East Kalimantan, thereby facilitating the process of poverty alleviation down to the sub-district, village and sub-district levels.
With this consolidation meeting, it is hoped that the district/city government can synergize with the provincial government to reduce the poverty rate in East Kalimantan.
