Development of gender and child data systems to support the acceleration of gender mainstreaming

Samarinda, (8/09/2020) . In the context of meeting the data needs of disaggregated both based on gender and age group, the Department of Population, Women's Empowerment, and Child Protection (DKP3A) of East Kalimantan Province held a Webinar on the Development of Gender and Children's Data Systems (SIGA) online.

This activity was opened by the Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial KP3A Office Hj. Halda Arsyad as well as a resource person. In his remarks Halda said gender and child data became the main element for the implementation of the PUG and the mainstreaming of the rights of the child (Puha), for that the ministry built a gender and child data system (SIGA).

The purpose of SIGA is to be able to collect data from various sectors and provide information on gender and children, up to date and accurately. it is expected that each regional apparatus can support and fill in indicator data and reports in accordance with the duties and functions of each regional apparatus.

gender data and children can help decision makers to identify differences (conditions and development) of men and women including children, evaluate the impact of development interventions on men and women, and can identify problems, build options and choose the most effective options for the benefit of men and women who are responsive to the problem of male and female experiences.
