Aswin, MM accompanied by the Head of Infrastructure and Regional Affairs Saur Parsaoran, T, S.Pi, MEMD received a media visit from the Ministry of Transportation Transmedia for interviews related to IKN and Transportation to encourage the economy.

The media wants to dig deeper into the support of the East Kalimantan regional government in the field of transportation in supporting the National Capital.

In order to facilitate IKN, the government's steps to fulfill transportation needs are in accordance with the authority regulated by Law 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, Mr. Aswin explained the steps taken by the Provincial Government. East Kalimantan, including conducting a Master Plan Study for the IKN Buffering City Road Transport Traffic Network; Synergizing the Need for Transportation Facilities to Support the National Capital of the Archipelago including Balikpapan City, Samarinda City, Kab. Penajam Paser Utara, Kab. Kukar and Kab. Passer; Carry out mapping of types of transportation that support transportation within the IKN area; as well as improving the Type B Terminal infrastructure facilities in East Kalimantan Province.

Related to pioneering transportation infrastructure. In 2023, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government through the Provincial Transportation Agency. East Kalimantan will prepare a study of public transport routes in East Kalimantan as well as a study of economic public transport fares in East Kalimantan, to support pioneer transport facilities and infrastructure, starting with a study of allocated routes in 2023. This step is considered strategic because with 10 regencies/cities in East Kalimantan which are geographically separated by residential areas/administrative areas in the categories remote, outermost, inland, pioneer transport will be able to become one of the land transport services that can connect and fulfill logistics needs in these areas.

To ensure the availability of pioneer transportation, Mr. Saur said the Government is opening up as much space as possible for private parties/individuals to assist the government in providing and improving pioneer transportation in East Kalimantan Province in accordance with applicable regulations.

Speaking about the transportation needs of people in inland areas which are accommodated by pioneering transportation, Mr. Aswin said that the East Kalimantan Provincial Government since 2012 has built pioneer airports on the border, such as Long Ampung Airport, Datah Dawai Airport, Muara Wahau Airport and Maratua Airport. Since the existence of Law 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has continued to coordinate and propose to the Central Government through the Ministry of Transportation to reintroduce Air Transport Cost Subsidies. since 2019 the Ministry of Transportation through UPBU APT. Pranoto in Samarinda subsidizes transport costs on several routes such as Samarinda-Long Apung, Samarinda Datah Dawai, Samkarinda Maratua, Datah Dawai-Melak, Sa,marinda Muara Wahau, Kalimaru-Maratua.

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has prepared a smart, integrated and environmentally friendly transportation development plan for the plan to move the National Capital (IKN) to Kutai Kertanegara and North Penajam Paser in East Kalimantan, as directed by President Joko Widodo that the main goal of IKN development is to build a new city that is smart, competitive at the global level, transformation towards an innovation-based country, technology, and green economy.
