Samarinda, 18 June 2021, 09.00 WITA. The East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda accompanied by the East Kalimantan Provincial Transportation Service received a visit from representatives of the Berau Regency DPRD in the Propeda meeting room of the East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda Office.

This meeting was chaired by the Head of the Highways and Transportation Subdivision of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Dedy Pudja Wardana, ST.

This visit is a coordination of the leadership and members of the Berau Regency DPRD based on the letter from the Chair of the Berau Regency DPRD Number 170/392/DPRD.III/VI/2021 with the aim of conveying the current problems and conditions of Derawan Island . There are two problems related to Derawan Island, namely that the main pier on Derawan Island is currently in a risky condition for tourists who come so it requires major construction/rehabilitation, and beach erosion which is eroding parts of the island, considering that the land on the island is sand so sea waves can easily erode it. the beach on Derawan Island.

Speaking about the pier problem, the Berau Regency DPRD proposed that it be able to build it, but in this case, for this development, Dedy Pudja said that there needed to be a preliminary study to find out the authority of the Central, Provincial and Regency so that makes it easier to implement.

Regarding the abrasion problem, Dedy said that in 2019 BWS Kalimantan IV had proposed a preliminary study on handling abrasion on Derawan Beach, but the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry did not recommend it because it was feared that it would threaten the turtle population and coral reefs.< /p>

To follow up on the abrasion problem, the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda suggests that the Berau Regency DPRD carry out an environmental study of handling coastal abrasion on Derawan Island so that the handling of abrasion does not disturb the ecosystem on the island.
