During the event, the Head of Bappeda conveyed the direction of policy programs and social welfare development activities in East Kalimantan Province.
Social welfare policy strategies and directions include Social Protection, Access to Health Services, Equal Education, Population Governance and Basic Services, Productivity and Competitiveness, Quality of Children, Women and Youth, and Poverty Alleviation.
Economic growth does not necessarily increase the level of social welfare, if it is not followed by equal distribution of income, or the elimination of social disparities.
Development of social welfare as an inseparable part of national development, and specifically designed to realize social welfare, takes part in eliminating social inequality.
Social welfare programs, especially programs for empowering the poor, need to be evaluated seriously, so that information on weak points in the program can be obtained.
Reinventing/reformulating social welfare development programs is a necessity/demand, which starts from strengthening commitment in the ranks of Regional Officials who handle social welfare.
