WEBINAR Series 1 with the theme Considering Central and Regional Aspirations in IKN in East Kalimantan
Thursday, October 28 2021. Head of Bappeda East Kalimantan Province, Prof. Dr. Ir.H. M. Aswin, M.M, was a resource person in the First Session of the New National Capital (IKN) Webinar Series on "Considering Central and Regional Aspirations regarding IKN" organized by the Political Economy Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Starting his presentation, Prof. Aswin expressed his appreciation for the holding of the webinar by BRIN, which aims to find out central and regional responses regarding IKN in East Kalimantan, find a meeting point for central and regional interests regarding IKN development and map obstacles and solution opportunities related to the transfer of IKN.
The plan to move the National Capital was presented by the President on August 26 2019 at the State Palace. All the people of East Kalimantan are very proud and happy about this announcement and have high expectations that the relocation of the National Capital will increase the level of community welfare in a sustainable manner.
The Government of East Kalimantan is committed to supporting the relocation of the National Capital and will intelligently use it to achieve regional development goals. Until now, East Kalimantan's economy still relies on primary products and non-renewable resources, especially oil and gas and coal as well as oil and gas-based processing industries. Efforts to carry out economic transformation towards downstream and renewable resources have been carried out for the past 13 years. The results are starting to be seen with the increasing contribution of the plantation sector and plantation-based processing industries.
