2012 East Kalimantan Data Synchronization
Malinau, 5/30/12. Regent of Malinau Drs. Yansen TP, M.Si representing the Governor of East Kalimantan opened a synchronization and data consolidation event 
Development in East Kalimantan in 2012 in the meeting room of the Malinau Regency Regent Office. The Governor of East Kalimantan who was unable to attend the event was because at the same time he was receiving a visit from the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Hermanto Dardak in the city of Balikpapan.
The meeting participants were attended by approximately fifty people consisting of related SKPDs in the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and all BPS and Regency/City Bappeda in East Kalimantan, while participants from the central government from Bappenas and Central BPS.
Implementation of synchronization activities and consolidation of development data in East Kalimantan is a routine meeting held every year between elements of the Provincial and Regency/City Governments in East Kalimantan and the Central Statistics Agency in the regions, as a means of sharing experience in relation to regional persecution with the aim of getting better and objective data in accordance with their respective regional conditions.
In order for the implementation to provide optimal results as our shared hope, presumably the implementation of synchronization and consolidation of development data in East Kalimantan in 2012 can produce a recommendation for improvement, improvement and development in the framework of regional statistical data arrangement, both basic statistics, sectoral statistics and special statistics.
The flow of globalization of information
The Governor of East Kalimantan said that in accordance with the remarks delivered by the Malinau Regent, "who mastered the information (data) will control the world". This statement is very appropriate, in the midst of the flow of globalization of information through the internet or also known as cyberspace information today without limits.
The importance of data and information 
Data and information are very important, not only for development planning, but also become the basis of decision making and policy. On this data, various development progress is evaluated, the problem map is seen again, the concept of planning and new development policies that have just been formulated. The success of developed countries is largely determined by the mastery of information in all fields. They know exactly what the potential of the region is, they know exactly what fields are priorities, and they know exactly how to realize their vision, mission, and program.
The province is rich in development ideas
The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan is very rich in various development ideas, so it needs to be supported by 'strong' data. How could we be able to compile programs in the health sector if we do not know exactly how the health conditions of the community? How is it possible to build a school in an area without us knowing how far the number of schools in the region? How will we develop tourism if we don't know what potential is right to develop? How do we make the decision to develop a program that is pro -people, if we ourselves do not know how the socioeconomic conditions of the community?
A good and comprehensive planning process is an important point for successful development. To be able to produce this ideal planning, each process must always be carried out on a valid and measurable database and information. Data and information collected are related to regional potential and conditions and are important parts for good and comprehensive planning results.
Quality data and information must be used as a reference for determining policies and target programs that will be implemented by the local government. With this, the final development results in the form of improving the welfare of the community/people will be achieved effectively and efficiently.
The most important use of data in the planning process is to provide development targets ". The most clear use of data and information can be seen in determining indicators, such as indicators of development performance. Existing indicators are then used as achievements of targets that can be measured. Date).
Cooperation with data providers such as the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), continues to be improved. However, as implementing development, the regional government should also collect and inventory all data and information needed for development. Each Regional Work Unit (SKPD) must have an updated database, so that the implementation of development related to the technical institution can be measured directly and the target of achievement is known. Inevitably, local governments must always update data and have valid data. At the central level, the ministry's desire is often the sectoral data to be constrained in the process of collecting data. 
So that the availability of data is very dependent, whether the office at the provincial and district/city levels makes efforts to collect data for the needs of the sector. If not, it will be very difficult for the central government to compile a program that really touches community problems to the smallest/rural region.
Availability of Regional Data
One of the problems using data in the development planning process so far is the limited availability of accurate data and information with the current situation (update). This will cause the development planning process itself is sometimes carried out using non -up -to -date data, besides the availability of lack of timely regional data, no data, annual data from different sources so that it cannot be analyzed, inefficient management, non -synchronous data between SKPD, slow flow of information from one part to another.
The issue of 'outdated' data (maybe a little better than the data is not available at all) is often experienced by many parties who always use data as a foundation for work. However, it cannot be denied that not a few who do not care about data. In fact, even if it is the latest data and has been presented in sight, the data is only left as a pile of numbers or publication to decorate a cabinet in the workspace without any benefits that can be obtained.
Solution to put data and information as the main basis of regional planning, among others:
1. The need for the similarity of the paradigm of all local government apparatus as the executor of development about the importance of data and information in the planning process. There needs to be an integrated database management between existing institutions and forms a database as a regional data center (this role can be taken by Bappeda). Cooperation between the Regional Government and BPS needs to be improved; 2. Then each SKPD in the region must continuously supply the SKPD data and technical information to the Regional Database (Bappeda).
Data and Information can make a positive contribution
Implementation of the synchronization and consultation meeting of development data in East Kalimantan for three days and ended on June 1, 2012 closed by Deputy Regent of Malinau, Typhoon Amrullah, S.Pd who also represented the Governor of East Kalimantan who was unable to attend.
