In accordance with the written remarks of the Minister of RI, Zulkifli Hasan Theme "Indonesian Tree Planting Day and National Planting Moon" 2012 is "urban forest encourages the realization of green Indonesia". The selection of this theme is intended to show that Indonesia has a high commitment and a consistent program in carrying out forest and land rehabilitation efforts and environmental conservation including its biodiver.

In addition we also want to show that forest resources as one of the drivers of the nation's economy, providing employment for the people, alleviating poverty and at the same time able to produce environmentally friendly products.

This is in line with the commitment of Indonesian President Mr. Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono about Indonesia's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26 % or 46 % with the help of the international community in 2020.

The Minister of Forestry advised that in the future the target of planting locations in the forest area is directed to conservation forests, protected forests and production forests. Outside the forest area, the target of planting is prioritized in rural areas (Rura/-Area), and the development of community forests, and no less important is planting in urban areas (urban-area) for greening environment and urban forest development.

The existence of green open space (RTH) is very strategic related to the concept of city development that meets economic, social and environmental aspects. Ideally, the green open space of urban areas is at least 30 % of the district/city area and the area of the city forest is at least 10 % of the district/city area that is part of the green open space. For this reason, the development of its existence is very important to maintain the harmony and balance of the urban ecosystem.

Observation of the Indonesian Minister of Forestry, Zulkifli Hasan in the last ten years, public awareness of the importance of urban forests has continued to increase. The existence of urban forests in the midst of urban communities is very much felt, especially urban communities in big cities. This is indicated by the support of the Regency/City Government Policy/City Government Building and Developing City Forests in Green Open Space.

On this good opportunity I need to say that, the interest of the community to plant trees is very high. I can conclude that planting trees has been entrenched in the community and become one of the unifying tools of the Indonesian nation. I as Minister of Forestry felt that there was no day without planting trees. The formation of this kind of community condition certainly cannot be separated from the central role of your brothers as governors and regents/mayors as well as the support of all elements of society in the regions. For that I want to invite all of us to be able to preserve the culture of planting this for the sake of the development of development in order to achieve a shared ideal, namely the realization of green Indonesia.

Nationally the achievement of the realization of the tree planting movement for three years has exceeded the target of planting at least one billion trees every year. The one -billion tree planting movement in 2010 was embedded as many as 1.3 billion trees (130%) and in 2011 embedded 1.5 billion trees (150%). The one -billion tree planting movement in 2012 to the end of October 2012, the realization of planting has reached 732 million (70%). With this level of achievement, and carried out in the right season, the amount of support for the governor, regents and mayors, as well as high public interest and enthusiasm, the target of planting at least 1 billion trees in the rainy season will be achieved and God willing can exceed the targets set.

I realize that to reach the target one billion trees cannot be done by the Ministry of Forestry itself. Therefore, we hope to all governors, regents/mayors, along with the DPRD, to mobilize the potential of BUMN/-BUMD/BUMS, Higher Education, Schools, Scouts, NGOs to play a more active role in mobilizing their ranks and the community to carry out tree planting movements in their respective regions.

For the sake of the national mass planting movement, the Ministry of Forestry provides facilities for building people's seeds and permanent nursery in all districts/cities to provide the needs of seeds/tree seedlings that are good and large amounts and affordable by the community in all regions of Indonesia.

On this good occasion, I once again want to express my gratitude and high appreciation to all parties who care in the success of the one -billion tree planting movement at the central, provincial and district/city levels. May God Almighty always give His mercy and guidance to our efforts. Said the Minister of Forestry in his written remarks read by the Governor of East Kalimantan, Dr.H. Awang Faroek Ishak.
