East Kalimantan Economic Policy

Samarinda, Wednesday 1/4/15. Governor of East Kalimantan, DR.H. Awang Faroek Ishak advised the Minister of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS Andrinof A. 1a._Gub_Kaltim_memampaikan_arahan_and_at the same time_opening_event_Musrenbang_Kaltim_smd_1_Apr_15Chaniago to be delivered directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir.H. Joko Widodo asked the Central Government to make a policy for all coal contractors in East Kalimantan Province to build Power Plans or Steam Power Plants (PLTU) in the regions as a form of direct contribution to development for the people of East Kalimantan.

This was conveyed directly by the Governor of East Kalimantan to the Minister of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS Andrinof A. Chaniago at the 2015 East Kalimantan Province Musrenbang in the context of preparing the 2016 East Kalimantan Province RKPD at the Convention Hall Building, Madya Sempaja Stadium Complex Samarinda, Wednesday, 1/4/15 which was attended by more than 100 participants and invitees.

Before the Governor of East Kalimantan delivered this message, the Minister of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS firmly said that a region's request for special autonomy would not necessarily make the people prosperous. Increasing people's welfare does not come in the form of a request for special autonomy but depends on the order of service to the community. He said.

This immediately received a response from the Governor of East Kalimantan to the Minister of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS that all coal contractors in East Kalimantan should be able to build power plans or PLTUs in the region to provide services to the people in East Kalimantan and this is also an economic principle of East Kalimantan. Said the Governor of East Kalimantan, H. Awang Faroek Ishak.

Suggestions from the Governor of East Kalimantan, DR.H. Awang Faroek Ishak received a direct response from the Minister of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS, Andrinof A. Chaniago, that the message would be conveyed directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir.H. Joko Widodo. The response of the Minister of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS immediately received a very enthusiastic applause from the participants present.

Meanwhile, the Governor of East Kalimantan in his presentation said that the 2015 East Kalimantan Province Musrenbang was in the context of preparing the 2016 East Kalimantan Province RKPD with the theme "Increasing the Economic Added Value of Regional Superior Products and Strengthening Intra and Inter-Regional Connectivity" with 12 priority programs, namely: 1). Improving the quality of education delivery; 2). Improving the quality of health services; 3). Acceleration of poverty alleviation; 4). Increasing and expanding employment opportunities; 5). Community economic development; 6). Acceleration of economic transformation; 7). Fulfilling environmentally friendly energy needs; 8). Agribusiness development; 9). Increased food production; 10). Improving the quality of basic infrastructure; 11). Bureaucratic reform and government governance; 12). Improving the quality of the environment.

Meanwhile, the 2016 East Kalimantan Province APBD amounted to IDR. 9.191 Trillion while income in 2016 was IDR. 8.869 trillion with details of regional original income of Rp. 5,334.22 Billion (60%); through a balancing fund of Rp. 3,168.54 billion (36%) and other legitimate regional income of Rp. 367.20 Billion (4%).

Stages towards improving a quality and sustainable economic structure with the concept of regional development and economic growth centers to accelerate equitable regional development with 8 strategic areas including: 1. Kariangau and Buluminung Balikpapan Industrial Zone and PPU; 2). Samarinda City Timber, Shipping, Industrial and Service Areas; 3). Bontang City Oil and Gas and Condensate based Industrial Area; 4). Special economic zone for industrial area and international port, Maloy (MALOY BATUTA TRANS KALIMANTAN ECONOMIC ZONES); 5). Derawan Islands Tourism Industrial Area; 6). Paser Regency agricultural industrial area and PPU; 7). Kukar and Kubar agricultural industrial areas; 8). Mahakam Ulu strategic border area.
