Acara Quarterly Seminar Side Event G20 Indonesia “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs through Inclusive Business”

The Economic and Natural Resources Sector attended the G20 Indonesia Quarterly Seminar Side Event "Empowering Women Entrepreneurs through Inclusive Business" which was held online on Tuesday, 03/22/22.

The aim of holding the seminar is to prioritize Indonesian SMEs as beneficiaries in the Indonesian G20 with the collaboration of various parties in the context of SME recovery.

Empowerment of women entrepreneurs in the involvement of SMEs in the green economy and digital economic encouragement for SME businesses is supported based on the role of women who have a big impact in overcoming the impact of the pandemic and creating jobs and playing a role in economic growth continuation

In Indonesia, MSMEs contribute 60% of GDP and women are managers and owners of more than half of the MSMEs in this country. MSMEs that are managed and owned tend to employ other women in their business, so that the number of women involved in MSMEs is increasing.

Women entrepreneurs need support from the government in the form of access to financing, export support, development and training for employees, improving product quality, and infrastructure, especially in rural areas.

Linggar Temu Regency Lestari (LTKL) adds industrial value that focuses on protecting ecosystems such as the industrial and technology, health and medicine sectors.

Through integration, LTKL continues to build women entrepreneurs to become more productive and create an ecosystem that can encourage them and involve all stakeholders to be able to share success stories of women entrepreneurs.

Challenges in empowering women are lack of self-confidence and difficulty in finding a support system for women entrepreneurs in terms of geographic location, level of education and different perspectives.

Women entrepreneurs are often seen as one group. Meanwhile, they can be categorized based on their growth orientation, namely high or stable growth.

Most women entrepreneurs experience difficulties in basic financial management, which has an impact on their low level of investment readiness where the cost of capital will be higher for women.

Gender equality in budgeting by creating inclusive and innovative economic models that work for women with a focus on achieving human well-being

Investing educational support is needed to ensure women and children have access and participate in pre-school to higher education, including early education and STEAM programs, supporting technical and vocational training, digital skills , finance and entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning to enable women to obtain quality jobs by continuing education and advancement during career breaks.
