Field Visit to Sepaku Semoi Dam

Wednesday, 15/06/2022 Head of Sub-Sector along with Infrastructure, Water Resources and Regional Staff of the Provincial Bappeda. East Kalimantan attended a Field Visit to the Sepaku Semoi Dam which lasted for 3 (three) days until 17 June 2022.

This event was held with an agenda including: 1) Discussion of Environmental Conditions and Plan Map for the Archipelago Capital, 2) Discussion of the Hydrological Area of ​​the Sepaku Semoi Reservoir, 3) Discussion of the Development Plan for the Sepau Semoi Dam as the water supply for the Archipelago Capital. The discussion held at the pavilion in the Sepaku Semoi Dam Area was led by Prof. Dr. Eng. Wiwandari Handayani, ST., MT., MPS. From the Transition Team Supporting Preparation, Construction and Relocation of the Capital, Together with the Indonesian Landscape Team

The discussions held focused on collecting data and information as a basis for compiling the Land and Non-Land Carbon Baseline at IKN, this was carried out in accordance with 8 principles and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) or Main Performance Indicators.

IKN was built with the aim of being a sustainable city where one of the main performance indicators is Net Zero Emission (NZE) and Net Zero Deforestation (NZD) with a policy of >75% of the 256,142 Ha area for green space (65% protected area and 10% food production). The efforts that will be made to achieve these targets are with the Net Zero policy Deforestation (NZD):

a. Prevention of deforestation;

b. Biodiversity conservation;

c. Existing and planned in-situ and ex-situ conservation in the National Capital Region of the Archipelago;

d. Rehabilitation of degraded forests;

e. Reclamation of ex-mining land;

f. Conversion of cultivation areas into protected forest areas.
