Discussion of the Formulation of the Economic Framework and Regional Development Targets in Refining the Provincial RKPD Ranwal. East Kalimantan in 2023

Thursday, 02/10/2022. In order to improve the initial draft of the 2023 RKPD, the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda together with the Central Statistics Agency and Bank Indonesia for the East Kalimantan Region held an online meeting to discuss the Economic Framework and Regional Development Targets.

This activity was opened by the Head of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Aswin, MM, who in his direction focused on four things, namely high levels of poverty, high levels of open unemployment, high levels of population income inequality, potential decline in the quality of the environment.

The picture of economic growth in 2021 in East Kalimantan, which in the last position was released, has begun to improve with a growth position of 2.48% compared to previous years which showed a minus figure, even though nationally East Kalimantan's economic growth is still in the bottom 5 position.

Acting Head of the Central Statistics Agency, Nur Wahid, explained that East Kalimantan's economic growth reached 2.48%, still below national growth of 3.69%, but regionally, East Kalimantan dominated growth with a contribution of 49.66%.

According to the implementation of Bank Indonesia's regional financial policy, East Kalimantan's economic development continues to grow positively even though it is slower than the previous quarter. East Kalimantan's economic growth is driven by the performance achievements of almost all sectors which have experienced positive growth.

In the fourth quarter, East Kalimantan's economy continued to grow positively, although it was lower than the previous quarter. East Kalimantan's positive economic growth is driven by increased performance in the processing industry and trade sectors in line with increasing domestic demand. On the other hand, East Kalimantan's main sector, namely mining, experienced a slowdown due to weather disturbances amidst weakening demand from partner countries.
