Phase III Green Growth Program Steering Committee Meeting

Jakarta, (27/03/2023). Provincial Bappeda. East Kalimantan, represented by the Head of Economics and Natural Resources, Mr. Gatut Wahyu, attended the Phase III Green Growth Program Steering Committee Meeting which took place in the meeting room of the Gran Melia Hotel, Jakarta.

This activity was attended by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Finance, Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Ministry of Transportation, Peat and Mangrove Restoration Agency, East Kalimantan Province, South Kalimantan Province, North Kalimantan Province, West Kalimantan Province, Central Kalimantan Province, GGGI, Danish Ambassador, New Zealand Ambassador, Canadian Ambassador, Ambassador of Norway, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea.

This meeting was the first Steering Committee meeting for the implementation of the Phase III Green Growth Program and the formation of the Phase III Green Growth Program Steering Committee. The formation of the committee was carried out to ensure the alignment of projects under the Green Growth program with National Development targets, both at the center and regional levels. This meeting aims to discuss the implementation of the Phase III green growth program and the projects under it.

On this occasion, Mr. Wahid conveyed several achievements of the GGP activities carried out in East Kalimantan in the period April 2021 – March 2023. There were two main things conveyed, namely those relating to the design of the reduction program emissions and deforestation and forest degradation, as well as those relating to the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB).

Mr Wahyu said that the most useful support for us in the regions is assistance and provision of experts on required technical matters such as carbon calculations, safeguards, sharing the benefits of emission reduction incentives, non-carbon benefits and others. This support is currently still being provided by GGGI through the Sub National PMU FCPF-Carbon Fund.

Next regarding the Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Wahyu said that his party experienced human resource problems in identifying and utilizing the TPB in the planning process, but with GGGI support it was possible to monitor and evaluate the TPB. "We at Bappeda are experiencing difficulties and limited human resources to be able to identify and utilize TPB information in our regional development planning process. GGGI's support under the umbrella of collaboration with Mulawarman University, has enabled us to monitor, evaluate and report TPB online. "This application will continue to be developed in the future," he explained
