Central and Regional Synergy Coordination Meeting in the Context of Implementing Deconcentration of the Governor as Representative of the Central Government
East Kalimantan Provincial Government through the Provincial Bappeda. East Kalimantan carried out coordination of border area development at the Swiss-bel Hotel Balikpapan, Thursday (04/08/2022).

This activity was attended by the Directorate General of Regional Administrative Development, East Kalimantan PUPR Service, East Kalimantan Bappeda, East Kalimantan Development Administration Bureau, East Kalimantan PUPR Service, Berau Regency Transportation Service, Mahulu Regency Transportation Service, PUPR Service Berau Regency, Bappelitbang Berau Regency, Bappelitbang Mahulu Regency, Head of Maratua District, and Head of Long Apari District.

This coordination is intended for Central and Regional Synergy as per Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 12 of 2021 concerning the duties and authority of the Governor as Representative of the Central Government (GWPP) in terms of the Master Plan for Development of Infrastructure and Infrastructure in Border Areas, Implementation State Border Cooperation, as well as Development of Government Infrastructure in Border Areas and Outermost Small Islands.

It should be noted that several areas in East Kalimantan Province have direct borders with neighboring countries, namely Mahulu Regency, which has direct borders with East Malaysia (Sarawak) in Long Apari District and Long Pahangai District, and The waters of Berau Regency border the Philippines in Maratua sub-district.

In this meeting several things were agreed regarding state border areas including basic needs in border areas which include infrastructure, telecommunications facilities, clean water, electricity, controlling inflation and environmental management in border areas between countries whose financing is charged to the APBN or other legitimate funding sources; Proposing to the central government to accelerate development in the state border areas in Mahulu Regency (Long Pahangai and Long Apari subdistricts) and Berau Regency (Maratua subdistrict) in order to support IKN development; Encourage the central government to accelerate the preparation of the RDTR for state borders, as a supporter in determining potential development priorities in Mahulu Regency and Berau Regency; building state border areas in Mahakan Ulu district and Kab. Berau in accordance with their respective authorities; as well as increasing the capacity of the role of sub-districts in the State border areas.
