Meeting of Poverty Coordination Strategy and Increasing Food Security through Social Forestry

Samarinda, 30 July 2020. The Agenda for the Coordination Meeting on Strategies for Poverty Alleviation and Increasing Food Security through Social Forestry organized by the Directorate General of Regional Development was carried out via video conference in five regions (Sumatra, Java-Bali-Nusra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku-Papua).

Head of the Natural Resources and Environment Sub-Sector Rina Juliaty, S.Si, M.Si together with staff Nadia Humaira.A were also present virtually in this activity representing the Head of Bappeda for East Kalimantan Province .

The activity, which was opened by the Director General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, presented three speakers including the Director of Forestry and Water Resources Conservation, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Nur Hygiawati Rahayu, Director of SUPD I, Directorate General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Drs. Nyoto Suwignyo, MM, and Secretary of the Directorate General of PSKL, KLHK Apik Karyana.

Food security has indeed become a central issue in agricultural development and national development since the 2015-2019 RPJMN and 2020-2024 RPJMN because increasing food security not only concerns basic needs but also becomes a support national economic growth.

For this reason, it is necessary to coordinate between the Central and Regional Governments to jointly follow up on increasing food security through social forestry management to improve people's welfare. (Bapp/hum/fat)
