The Secretary of the East Kalimantan Bappeda was the Keynote Speaker at the National Regional and City Planning Seminar
Balikpapan, 10/19/2022. Secretary of Bappeda for East Kalimantan Province, Mrs. Charmarijaty, ST, M.Si attended the invitation to be the Keynote Speaker at the 2022 COMPACT National Seminar entitled "Strategies for Accelerating Development in Utilizing Local Potential for Sustainable Development in the New Normal Era". This event was organized by the Regional and Urban Planning Study Program, Kalimantan Institute of Technology in Balikpapan.

Ibu Nona (the Secretary of Bappeda for East Kalimantan's nickname) conveyed several important things in her presentation with the theme "Collaborative Opportunities for the Development of the National Capital" including new challenges that planners still have to face in post-pandemic recovery; policy direction and strategy for development of the East Kalimantan region and IKN based on space, environment, superior commodities and sustainability aspects; as well as opportunities for collaborative research and innovation in regional and city planning which are still very wide open, especially through the investment sector in tourism, processing industry and other potential fields in East Kalimantan.

It was also conveyed to all seminar participants who attended the important role that planners have in the development of East Kalimantan. For this reason, of course, East Kalimantan really needs quality planners so that East Kalimantan's development becomes more advanced.

For information, the need for planners/spatial planning planners in East Kalimantan is approximately 376 people, but currently those who are still being recorded through the association that oversees regional and city planners (IAP) only number 183 people. This shows that there are still quite large opportunities for planners to have a career and help develop East Kalimantan.
