Symposium strengthens the sustainable agricultural ecosystem to support the food security of the capital city of the archipelago and East Kalimantan
Samarinda, (11/07/2022). Head of Economics and Natural Resources, Mr. Wahyu Gatut Purboyo, accompanied by Functional Planner, Sub-Coordinator, Mrs. Agustina Rahmawati, attended the Agricultural Symposium in the meeting room of the Mercure Hotel.

This activity was organized by the Directorate of Food Security at the Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources of the IKN Authority in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture, Mulawarman University to discuss joint strategies with OIKN and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in building a sustainable agricultural ecosystem .

Entitled "Strengthening Sustainable Agricultural Ecosystems to Support Food Security in the Capital of the Archipelago and East Kalimantan" this symposium is intended to collect data, information and views as well as success stories that are reliable and can be used in building sustainable agricultural ecosystem in IKN and East Kalimantan to support the development of food security in line with efforts to control climate change.

The development of the Archipelago Capital City is based on circular and resilient principles where one of the targets is to provide and function at least 10 percent of the Archipelago Capital (IKN) area as a food production area. The Spatial Plan for the Strategic Area of the Archipelago Capital and the Detailed Spatial Plan have allocated areas to support food security both spread across various development planning areas and in the IKN development area.

Sustainable agriculture therefore needs the support of integrated conception, policy, design and action. A complete ecosystem, spanning multi sectors, multi actors and integrated in one landscape needs to be built to support the implementation of sustainable agriculture in the IKN region and East Kalimantan Province.
