GGGI Audience - Mulawarman University LP2M Team and Coordinator of the University of Mulawarman University Infrastructure and Geospatial Information Development (PPIIG)

Samarinda, 08 June 2021, 10.30 WITA. In order to obtain input on the general plan for the Mulawarman University-GGGI partnership activities, GGGI and LP2M Mulawarman University held an audience with the Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province. Taking place in the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda planning meeting room, this meeting was opened by the Head of East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Aswin, MM and attended by Deputy Chancellor I of Mulawarman University, Prof. Mustofa Agung Sardjono, Chair of LP2M Mulawarman University, DR. Anton Rahmadi, Coordinator of the Center for Geospatial Infrastructure and Information Development (PPIIG) at Mulawarman University, Yohanes Budi Sulistioadi, Ph.D, GGGI Representative, Dyah Catur, and members of the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda were also present. This hearing aims to convey the partnership activities of Mulawarman University with GGGI and inform plans for Kick Off Activities.

Dyah Catur explained that GGGI and Mulawarman University had signed a memorandum of understanding on January 15 2021. This agreement aims to provide a general framework for cooperation and to facilitate collaboration between the parties in promoting programs, research and joint activities in supporting capacity building and developing green economic growth options in East Kalimantan Province in accordance with their respective roles and functions.

This Memorandum of Understanding is valid until December 2024 with the scope of Strengthening planning, financing and green growth frameworks at sub-national and local levels; Increasing the flow of public and private green investment to turn green growth strategies and investment plans into implementable actions; Enhance south-south cooperation and share evidence-based knowledge on green economic growth and sustainable development; Promote leadership patterns to advance green growth theory and practice, drawing on evidence from the public and private sectors; Other areas as may be agreed between the parties.

The programs and activities identified under the cooperation agreement between Unmul and GGGI are part of the Joint Workplan GGP 3 SL GGGI - KLHK as stated in the letter from the Director of Climate Change Mitigation, Directorate General of PPI-KLHK regarding " Submission of the Results of the GGP 3 SL Technical Team Meeting." The implementation of programs and activities is carried out in close coordination with the East Kalimantan Bappeda as a member of the GGP GoI-GGGI/Focal Point Steering Committee) and related technical Regional Apparatus.

There are 6 (six) activities under the partnership framework including support for development planning; Assessment of the impact of green growth programs; Supporting provincial and district environmental planning; Technical support for the implementation of the FCPF-Carbon Fund; Analysis of Land Cover and NTFP Potential in customary forests; and Advancing the application of economic instruments in KPHL Balikpapan.
