Infrastructure and regional fields there is a meeting to discuss the availability of raw water and sustainable settlements in the province of East Kalimantan
The field of infrastructure and region held a meeting involving various stakeholders related to raw water and sustainable settlements in the Meeting Room of the East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda Office (26/03/2024).
This meeting is a follow-up to the results of the IKN buffer regional planning meeting conducted based on the direction of the Governor's official, Akmal Malik, on March 1, 2024.
The meeting was led by Ibn Abbas, the head of the Water Resources Team, and the spatial planning sector discussed in depth related to the raw water supply matrix and sustainable settlement in East Kalimantan Province (East Kalimantan) and the Capital City (IKN) with several stakeholders such PUPR & PERA, East Kalimantan Province Water Resources Division, PUPR & Pera Office in Cipta Karya, PUPR & Pera Dinas, Spatial Planning Division, and PUPR & Pera Office in Housing & Settlement.
One of the main objectives of this meeting is to map development planning related to the availability of raw water and sustainable settlements, especially in the IKN region. For example, to meet the projection of domestic raw water needs in IKN, it is projected that approximately 5,000 liters of water requirements per second, planning to construct the Semoi Water Treatment Plant (IPA) and supported by the Sepaku river intake.
Meanwhile, for IKN buffer areas such as Samarinda, Balikpapan, Penajam Paser Utara (PPU), and Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar), raw water supply plans are being considered through the Mahakam River intake with the same capacity, which is 5,000 liters per second.
In addition, in this meeting also discussed plans related to spatial planning in the IKN buffer area. Related to this, the spatial sector has conducted a study related to the identification of space investment for planning the development of IKN buffer zones in Samarinda and Balikpapan, as well as a space investment study for new growth centers as supporters of IKN in PPU and Kukar.
Thus, this meeting is an important milestone in an effort to ensure that vital raw water resources and sustainable settlements can be guaranteed for the people of East Kalimantan.
Through joint collaboration, it is hoped that the plans prepared can provide concrete and sustainable solutions for infrastructure and spatial challenges in IKN and in East Kalimantan.
