RRI Kaltim Discussion Theme "Utilizing CSR in Building East Kalimantan in the IKN Era"

Monday, 05/23/2022. Head of Bappeda East Kalimantan Province, Mr. Prof. Dr. Ir. HM Aswin, MM was present online as a resource person at the "Hallo Kaltim" discussion event organized by RRI Kaltim with the theme "Utilization of CSR in Building East Kalimantan in the IKN Era" organized by RRI Kaltim (Samarinda).

Lately there has been a lot of discussion about CSR funds from East Kalimantan coal companies flowing to universities on the island of Java or outside East Kalimantan. According to information, these funds flow in the form of scholarships and amount to hundreds of billions.

-

Chairman of the Provincial DPRD. East Kalimantan, Mr. H. Makmur said there is no prohibition on helping anyone, this can be communicated well, but we hope that these CSR funds will really benefit the people of East Kalimantan. His party has also taken steps such as communicating with PT. Gunung Bayan for clarification and plans to form a special committee but this will be decided together at the DPRD forum.

-

Similarly, Mr. Wahyudin, as chairman of the East Kalimantan CSR Forum, said that his party cannot force companies to provide funds, but the CSR forum has programs to be funded by CSR, such as rejuvenating electrical installations, providing ambulances, construction of livable houses and others. "We only have programs but we cannot force them to get funds, there is a lot of development that cannot be financed by the APBD but is backed up by CSR funds."

-

Meanwhile, according to the Governor of East Kalimantan, in general CSR in East Kalimantan has been running but is not yet optimal, there are several companies that carry out programs with unannounced/unreported CSR funds, including PT. Mount Bayan.

-

In line with Prof. Aswin that PT. Gunung Bayan's CSR is quite good, he has actually been to Tabang and seen the construction of bridges and roads there. "Gunung Bayan's CSR is quite good, many companies don't do it." It was also explained that in 2020, Gunung Bayan did not report its CSR activities, in that year those who reported activities and adjusted them to the East Kalimantan development plan were Berau Coal at 53M and Kideco at 43M.
