FGD initiated East Kalimantan after oil and gas: Eco-EDU WISATA Tourism "Oil and Gas Transition to OTEC"

hi, friend planning! Attending the Group Discussion Forum (FGD) which was held on Thursday (2/11/2023) in the ITK Balikpapan East Kalimantan campus.

FGD which is a collaboration between the Department of Maritime FTK ITS and the ITK Marine Engineering Study Program was opened by the Professor of ITS Lecturer in the Faculty of Marine Engineering Prof. Mukhtasor. He introduced the concept of OTEC (sea energy) which was widely used in developed countries for post -mining reclamation, especially oil and gas like in Okinawa Japan and South Korea.

Some important notes obtained from the results of this FGD include:
1. The concept of OTEC is more utilizing oil and gas pipes that are not used anymore to be used as an electric energy generator that can be used to meet the needs of the community;
2. In addition to meeting the electricity needs of OTEC can also be developed into underwater mineral bottled water that can be consumed by the community, the raw material of the cosmetics industry;
3. Through implementing Arrangement there are several pilot project decommissioning oil and gas platforms in East Kalimantan at the Attaka-I, Attaka-I and Attaka-Eb oil and gas platforms located on the coast of Bontang City;
4. Through OTEC the Eco-Edu Tourism concept can be applied after oil and gas platform operations, especially landing can be a vehicle for tourism by utilizing oil and gas distribution pipes to Cold Water Pipe (CWP) to carry water from the depth of the sea for Sea Hot Power Plants (PLTPL);
5. The investment value issued for this Pilot Project OTEC is 6-7 million USD/platform;
